Coorg is a road-trip destination. Distances between the main sights are not large in kilometres, but the roads are slow — count an hour for every 30km, and slower in the rain.
The most flexible option is a hired car with driver out of Madikeri or Bangalore — expect ₹2,500-4,000 a day. Self-drive is possible but the estate roads are narrow and unsigned; have a working map app.
Local buses run between Madikeri and the larger villages (Bhagamandala, Virajpet, Kushalnagar) for next to nothing, but they are slow and infrequent. Within Madikeri itself, tuk-tuks handle everything in town.
Many homestays will arrange jeep transfers to specific sights like Mandalpatti or Tadiandamol, which is usually cheaper than booking from outside.
