Coorg has no airport and no railway station within the district. You get here by road from one of three directions.
From Bangalore, the drive is around 250km and takes six to seven hours via Mysore. Daily buses run from Majestic bus stand to Madikeri, taking about eight hours.
From Mysore, it is a much easier 120km — three hours by car, four by bus. This is the standard approach for most travellers.
From Mangalore on the coast, the drive is about 140km up the Western Ghats — slow, twisty, beautiful, and prone to landslides during monsoon.
The nearest airports are Mangalore (135km) and Mysore (130km); Bangalore's Kempegowda International is further but has more flights.
