Umbrella Falls

Umbrella Falls, locally called Randha Falls, is the main waterfall near Bhandardhara, where the Pravara River drops over a basalt ledge in a wide curtain that earns its name — from the viewing platform below, the water spreads out like an open umbrella. During the monsoon and the weeks immediately after, the volume is spectacular.

The falls are about 5 kilometres from the MTDC resort and accessible by road with a short walk to the viewing point. At peak flow in August, spray reaches the viewing platform and the roar is loud enough to make conversation difficult. Later in the season the volume drops but the setting remains impressive. There is a small entry fee for the path down to the viewpoint.
