Ukhrul is about 80 km northeast of Imphal by road — the journey takes two to three hours depending on road conditions, which can be poor in the monsoon (June to September). Shared taxis and buses run from Imphal's Khwairamband market area; private taxis are faster and more comfortable. There is no rail connection.
The nearest airport is Bir Tikendrajit International Airport in Imphal, which has connections to Kolkata, Delhi, and several Northeast Indian cities.
Ukhrul is in a restricted area for foreign visitors — an Inner Line Permit (ILP) is required and must be arranged in advance from the Manipur government or at the permit offices in Imphal, Kolkata, or Delhi.
