Day Trips

Rajsamand sits in the heart of Mewar and makes a useful base — or a stop en route — for several nearby attractions.

Nathdwara (17 km south) is one of the most important Vaishnava pilgrimage towns in Rajasthan, home to the Shrinathji Temple housing a celebrated image of Krishna. The town is famous for its pichhwai paintings — large cloth artworks depicting Krishna's life — sold in workshops throughout the bazaar.

Kumbhalgarh Fort (about 50 km northwest) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a massive 15th-century hill fort surrounded by walls stretching nearly 36 km — often cited as the second-longest continuous wall in the world. The fort was the birthplace of Maharana Pratap and offers sweeping views over the Aravalli hills. A wildlife sanctuary surrounds it, with wolves, leopards, and sloth bears.

Udaipur (65 km south) is the natural base for the region, with its palace-lined lake, rich museum collections, and excellent accommodation and dining. A day in Rajsamand pairs well with a longer stay in Udaipur.
