Gangtok rewards the visitor who slows down. The monasteries are the obvious draw, and rightly so, but the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology holds one of the finest collections of Tibetan manuscripts outside Lhasa, and the views from Enchey Monastery on a clear morning are reason enough to make the climb.
