Sapta Rishi Ashram sits at the point where the Ganges splits into multiple channels before flowing through Haridwar, about 5 kilometres upstream from Har Ki Pauri. The setting is beautiful — the river is wide and fast here, the forest comes down to the water, and the distant Himalayan foothills are visible in the morning light. It is quieter than central Haridwar and more conducive to contemplation.
The ashram was founded in the early 20th century and remains an active spiritual centre with regular meditation and yoga programmes. The adjacent ghat is a good place to observe pilgrims bathing in the Ganges in a setting less crowded than the main ghats. An auto-rickshaw from the city centre takes about 15 minutes.
