Getting There

By air: Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (formerly Amausi) has direct flights to Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Varanasi, Patna, and a growing number of other Indian cities. The airport is about 15 km from the city centre.

By rail: Lucknow is a major railway junction. Charbagh station — worth a look in itself for its grand colonial architecture — connects the city to Delhi (Shatabdi Express, around 6 hours), Varanasi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and most other large Indian cities. The Lucknow Mail and Gomti Express are among the most popular services.

By road: Lucknow sits on the national highway network with good connections to Kanpur (79 km), Allahabad (210 km), Ayodhya (135 km), Agra (363 km), and Delhi (497 km). State-run and private buses operate from the main bus stand near Charbagh.
