Janeshwar Mishra Park is one of the largest urban parks in Asia — 376 acres in Gomti Nagar opened in 2014 — and is the easiest place in Lucknow to walk an hour without crossing a single road. The layout combines two big artificial lakes, a long cycling track around the perimeter, woodland of fast-growing indigenous trees, an amphitheatre, and a play area for children.
In practice it is at its best at sunrise (joggers, yoga practitioners, birdlife) and at sunset (couples, families, ice-cream vendors). The boating on the central lake is cheap and casual. Cycle rentals are available at the entrances. Easily an entire morning if you want a break from the chaos of the older city.
