Barrackpore is straightforward to reach from Kolkata. Local trains on the Sealdah–Ranaghat and Sealdah–Krishnanagar main lines stop at Barrackpore station roughly every 15–20 minutes during the day; the journey takes about 45 minutes from Sealdah. Buses run along the Barrackpore Trunk Road from Kolkata throughout the day. By road the distance is about 25 km north of the city centre, but traffic on the trunk road can be slow.
