Jemeluk Bay is Amed's easiest and most rewarding snorkelling spot. The reef begins close to shore, the bay is relatively sheltered, and the water is usually calm enough for beginners in the morning. Coral gardens, reef fish, and occasional turtles can be seen without needing a boat.
The bay is also a good introduction to Amed's low-key rhythm. Cafes and dive shops sit along the road behind the beach, and the viewpoint above the bay is one of the best places on the coast to watch sunset over Mount Agung. Go early for the clearest water; afternoons can bring chop and more traffic from day visitors.
