Amed is at its best from April to November, when the sea is usually calmer and visibility for snorkelling and diving is strongest. July and August bring more visitors, but the area still feels quiet compared with south Bali.
The wet season can be pleasant, with fewer people and lower prices, though runoff may reduce visibility after heavy rain. Early mornings are best year-round: the sea is calmer, the fishing boats are active, and Mount Agung is more likely to be clear.
