Angel's Billabong

Angel's Billabong is a natural infinity pool carved into the limestone rocks at the western tip of Nusa Penida. At low tide, a clear pool of turquoise water sits perfectly still against a backdrop of open ocean, with the appearance of floating above the sea. It is one of the most striking natural formations in Bali's immediate vicinity.

Swimming is possible when conditions are right — calm seas and low tide only. The rocks around the pool are sharp and uneven, and the access path requires care. The adjacent viewpoint overlooks the pool from above and is a safer vantage point when swells are up. Broken Beach, a few hundred metres away, can be combined easily in the same visit.

A story
Angel's Billabong occupies the extreme western tip of Nusa Penida's south coast and has a grim recent history alongside its beauty: several tourists have been swept off the rocks and drowned when waves surge unexpectedly over the edge. The pool is safe to enter only at low tide in calm conditions, and the advice of the local guides should be followed carefully.
