Mount Inerie

Sharp volcanic cone dominating Bajawa and the Ngada villages.

Mount Inerie is the clean volcanic cone south of Bajawa, visible from the road, the villages, and the hill viewpoints around town. It rises to about 2,245 metres and gives the Ngada landscape its centre of gravity.

Climbing it is a serious early-morning hike on steep volcanic ground, not a casual stroll after breakfast. Many travellers are better off enjoying it from Bena, Wolobobo, or the road south, where the mountain's shape is at its most striking.
