Mount Guntur

Mount Guntur is an active volcano north of Garut and the mountain above the Cipanas hot-spring area. It rises to 2,249 metres and last erupted in the 19th century, after a period when eruptions were frequent.

The mountain can be climbed from the Cipanas side. The route is exposed and volcanic rather than forested for much of the way, so start early, carry water, and check local conditions before setting out.
