Getting Around

Central Purwokerto is walkable — the station, alun-alun, main market and most eating streets are within 20 minutes of each other on foot. For longer distances within the city, ojek (motorcycle taxi) and the ride-hailing apps Gojek and Grab are the practical options; angkot (shared minibuses) run fixed routes but are slow and their route numbers are not always clearly marked.

For Baturraden, angkot route 2 (or variants depending on the year) runs from Terminal Purwokerto to the resort gate and takes around 45 minutes; charter a motorcycle taxi for around 30,000–50,000 rupiah if you want to go directly. For Sokaraja, frequent angkots depart from the east side of the terminal. There is no practical public transport to Mount Slamet's hiking trailhead at Bambangan — you will need to charter transport or arrange it through a trekking operator in Purwokerto.
