Kereta Kraton

Sultan's ornate royal carriages inside the Keraton complex

The Kereta Kraton is a collection of royal carriages and chariots housed in a pavilion within the Keraton (Sultan's Palace) complex. The most impressive piece is the Kyai Garudo, a gilded carriage topped with a carved Garuda figure, used for coronations and royal processions. Several other carriages date back to the 18th and 19th centuries, gifts from Dutch and other European powers. The pavilion is included in the general Keraton admission ticket.
