Getting There

The main access point from Lombok is the port at Bangsal, about 25 kilometres north of Senggigi. Public bemos run here from Mataram's Mandalika terminal (change at Pemenang), or you can take a private car from anywhere on Lombok. Shared boats from Bangsal run frequently when full; the crossing takes 20–30 minutes depending on the island. Private charters are faster and more comfortable. Fixed prices are displayed at the harbour.

From Bali, fast ferry services run from Padangbai on the east coast, stopping at some or all of the three islands. Journey time is two to three hours and the crossing passes through the Lombok Strait, which can produce significant swells, especially during the wet season (November to March). Book ahead during high season (July, August, and around Christmas and New Year). Some services continue to Lombok's Senggigi or Teluk Nara ports.

There are no airstrips on the Gili Islands. The closest airport is Lombok International Airport (LOP), about 45 minutes from Bangsal by taxi.
