Rumah Adat Baanjuang Museum

Set inside Fort de Kock park, this small ethnographic museum is housed in a traditional rumah gadang with the long, sweeping buffalo-horn roofline that defines Minangkabau architecture. The collection covers Minangkabau weaving, ceremonial costume, kitchen tools, kris daggers, and an oddly fascinating room of taxidermied animals — including a two-headed buffalo.

The building itself is the main attraction: built on stilts, with intricately carved wooden facades and panels showing the flora-and-curlicue motifs that Minangkabau carvers prize. Entry is cheap and the visit takes maybe forty minutes.
