Bukittinggi's sights are nearly all within walking distance of the clock tower. Add the canyon walk and the cluster of Dutch and Japanese era relics on the hill above town and you have an easy two-day visit, with the Minangkabau heartland — Pagaruyung, Lake Maninjau, the rumah gadang villages — within day-trip reach.
