Sorake is the village at the point break on the eastern arm of Lagundri Bay. The beach itself is short and rocky in places — surfers come for the wave, not the sand — but the strip of cheap losmen, warungs, and the surf school behind the beach forms the social hub of southern Nias during the season.
Most accommodation is family-run, single-storey, and inexpensive. Even non-surfers find it a relaxed base for visiting the nearby villages; the bay is only a few kilometres from Bawomataluo by motorbike taxi.
