Trikora Beach

Trikora is the most accessible of Bintan's east coast beaches from Tanjung Pinang — about 50 kilometres along the coastal road, easily reached by hired motorbike or taxi in under an hour. The beach itself is a long, gently curving stretch of white sand backed by coconut palms, with calm water sheltered from ocean swells that makes it suitable for swimming even with children.

On weekdays, Trikora has the kind of emptiness that most of Indonesia's famous beaches gave up decades ago. A handful of simple warungs sell grilled fish, cold beer, and fresh coconut. You can hire a boat here for a small fee to reach the small offshore islands, some of which have even quieter sand and basic snorkelling. Weekends bring day-trippers from Tanjung Pinang and occasionally from the northern resort strip, but it never approaches crowded.
