Waikabubak

The hill town of West Sumba, ringed by traditional clan villages with soaring peaked-roof houses and megalithic tombs.

Waikabubak is the main town of West Sumba, set among green hills that are far wetter and more fertile than the island's east. It is surrounded by traditional villages where towering thatched clan houses cluster around ancestral megalithic tombs, and it is one of the best places to witness the Pasola — the island's dramatic ritual spear-fighting festival on horseback.
