Pulau Moyo (Moyo Island) lies in the Flores Sea about 8 km off the north coast of Sumbawa, reached by boat from Labuhan Sumbawa in roughly one hour. Most of the island is a nature reserve protecting diverse lowland tropical forest, mangroves, and offshore coral reefs. The diving and snorkelling around the island's eastern coast is considered among the best in West Nusa Tenggara — visibility is high and the coral is relatively undamaged.
The island has a small resident population and a cluster of simple guesthouses near the main pier. Boats depart irregularly from Labuhan Sumbawa; organised trips from Sumbawa Besar are the easiest option. The island is best known internationally as the place where Princess Diana visited in 1993, staying at the exclusive Amanwana resort — a fact that has done little to change the island's fundamentally wild character.
