Wadi Nisnas

A predominantly Arab neighbourhood downhill from the German Colony, around eight thousand residents in a tight grid of narrow stone-paved streets. The market here is the best in the city for fresh produce, spices, bread, and cheap pickles, and the small restaurants serve some of Haifa's most respected hummus.

The neighbourhood has been the city's main showcase for Arab-Jewish coexistence projects — the Beit-HaGefen cultural centre is at its edge, and street art under the Holiday of Holidays festival in December covers the quarter every year.
