The lakefront and older centre can be covered on foot, but the city is steep once you leave the water. Local buses and taxis are handy for the tombs, hot springs, and residential districts.
For places beyond town, including Mount Arbel, Magdala, Capernaum, and Beit Shean, a car saves time. In summer, plan outdoor visits for early morning or late afternoon.
