Nishiawakura is best treated as a forest day rather than a town-sightseeing day. Start with Wakasugi Primeval Forest if the trails are open, then leave time for Awakura Onsen and one smaller stop such as Ogaya Shibazakura Park in flower season or Awakura Shrine for the old cypress.
