Tokashiki Island is one of the Kerama Islands, and the Kerama Islands exist for one reason: the water. Visibility of 30 to 50 metres is common at dive sites; the coral is in generally excellent health; and the beaches — Aharen and Tokashiku in particular — are as good as any in Japan. In winter, whale watching takes over from swimming and snorkelling as the main draw.
