Morioka Handcrafts Village is a craft complex west of the city where visitors can see and sometimes try local making traditions, from Nambu ironware to dyed textiles and food workshops. It is more interesting than a standard souvenir stop because production and demonstration are part of the point.
The village is not in the centre, so it works best if you have a spare half day or are continuing toward Tsunagi Onsen. Come with some curiosity about how things are made rather than just a shopping list.
