Queen Alia International Airport (AMM), 32 km south of the city, is the main gateway to Jordan and a hub for Royal Jordanian, with direct flights from Europe, the Gulf, North America and much of Asia. Shuttle buses (the "Sariyah" Airport Express) run into central Amman in about 45 minutes; taxis are plentiful but insist on the meter or fixed fare. Overland, the King Hussein Bridge border crossing connects Amman with Jerusalem via a shared taxi (about 45 minutes to the border), and buses run from Damascus (when the route is open) and Nuweiba in Egypt.
