Amman's most interesting shopping is concentrated in three areas: the downtown souks (gold, spices, fabric, general goods), the artisan and craft shops on and around Rainbow Street (Palestinian embroidery, ceramic, design objects), and the Abdoun/Sweifieh west Amman malls for international goods. The Jordan Craft Centre in the First Circle area stocks quality Jordanian crafts and products from the RSCN's reserve workshops.
For food, the Friday Market is the best source of everything from olive oil to old spices; the Carrefour in Abdali has the widest selection of Jordanian food products for travelling with. Za'atar, dried herbs, Jordanian olive oil, and Dead Sea products are the most useful things to take home.
