Jabri Coffee

Jabri Coffee has been roasting and selling Jordanian-style Arabic coffee in the downtown since the 1940s — a small shop on King Faisal Street where bags of roasted cardamom-spiced coffee are sold wholesale and retail, and where a cup can be had for almost nothing on the spot. The scent of freshly roasted coffee with cardamom and clove reaches into the street and makes the shop easy to find.

Jordanian-style coffee (qahwa) is drunk without sugar, in small cups, as part of a traditional hospitality ritual. It is quite different from espresso or Turkish coffee — lighter, aromatic, herbaceous — and Jabri's version is among the best in the city. Buy a bag to take home if you enjoyed it.
