Spring (March to May) is the best time to visit Irbid and the north Jordan plateau — the hills are green, temperatures are mild, and the wildflowers are out on the slopes around Ajloun. Autumn (September to November) is similarly pleasant. Summer is hot and dry but not brutally so at this elevation; the university semester means the city is lively. Winter brings rain and occasional cold snaps.
Ramadan sees restaurants closed during the day but lively iftar gatherings after dark. The university year (October to June) keeps the city energetic; July and August are quieter as students leave.
