Madaba is essentially one extraordinary thing — Byzantine mosaics — distributed across several churches and a museum within easy walking distance of each other. The Madaba Map is the headline, but the Archaeological Park, the Madaba Museum and the Church of the Apostles all hold mosaic floors that would be the centrepiece of any other town. Allow a half day for the in-town sights and another half day for Mount Nebo and the nearby sites.
