Getting There

By air: Kuwait International Airport is 16 km south of the city centre, about a 20-25 minute drive. Kuwait Airways and Jazeera Airways are the main carriers, with connections across the Middle East, Europe, and Asia. Major international airlines including British Airways, Lufthansa, Emirates, and Turkish Airlines also serve Kuwait. From the airport, taxis are readily available -- agree on a fare before getting in, or use a ride-hailing app like Careem.

By road: Excellent highways connect Kuwait to Saudi Arabia. Bus services run to Dammam and other Saudi cities via operators like KGL and CityBus, as well as the state-run Kuwait National Public Transport Company. The land border with Iraq exists but is best avoided for casual travel.

By sea: The Kuwait-Iran Shipping Company operates ferries between Ash Shuwayk Port in Kuwait City and Bushehr in Iran, running several times a week. Most other port traffic is commercial.
