Winter (December-February) is the best time to visit Kuwait City. Temperatures are mild, around 18-22C during the day, cool at night (occasionally dropping near 0C). January has the most rain, but it is still minimal. This is when outdoor activities are pleasant and the city feels most alive.
Spring (March-April) is still comfortable in March, but by April temperatures are climbing and sandstorms become more frequent. The desert blooms briefly and beautifully in early spring.
Summer (May-September) is punishing. Temperatures routinely exceed 45C and can hit 50C. Humidity is high near the coast. The city empties out during the day and life moves indoors. Only visit in summer if you have no choice, and plan all outdoor activity for early morning or after dark. The Aqua Park near the Kuwait Towers is a popular way to beat the heat.
Autumn (October-November) sees temperatures gradually becoming bearable again by November.
Key dates: National Day (February 25) and Liberation Day (February 26) bring celebrations, fireworks, and parades. The Hala February Festival runs through much of the month with concerts and events. Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha are major holidays -- dates shift annually with the Islamic calendar. During Ramadan, restaurants close during the day and businesses keep shorter hours, but evenings are festive.
