When to Go

Osh sits in the southern lowlands of Kyrgyzstan and has a continental, semi-arid climate — hot dry summers and cold dry winters, with brief but pleasant spring and autumn seasons in between.

April to May and September to October are the best times to visit. Daytime temperatures sit between 18 and 28°C, the surrounding countryside is green (in spring) or golden (in autumn), and the bazaar is at its best.

June to August are very hot — easily over 35°C in the daytime — and the air can feel still and dusty. Sulaiman-Too is best climbed early in the morning. November to March are cold, sometimes snowy, and the surrounding mountain roads close, but the city itself remains accessible and the bazaars still work.
