Getting There

Pakse International Airport (PKZ) has direct flights to Vientiane and Bangkok, with connections to other major regional hubs. Several airlines serve the route to Bangkok, making Pakse a viable entry point into southern Laos without going through the capital.

By bus, Pakse is well connected to Vientiane (10–12 hours overnight), to the Thai border at Chong Mek (1.5 hours), and to the Cambodian border at Dong Kralor (6–8 hours). The bus station is on the eastern side of town. Sleeper buses on the Vientiane route are comfortable enough for the overnight journey.

From Thailand, the crossing at Chong Mek / Vang Tao is the most practical. Cross the border and take a tuk-tuk or shared taxi to Pakse, about 40 kilometres. The crossing is open daily.
