Pakse itself is a transit hub rather than a destination, but the Champasak Provincial Museum is worth a half-day. The real draws — Wat Phu, the Bolaven Plateau, and the 4,000 Islands — all lie outside the city. Most travellers use Pakse as a base for a few days of excursions before moving on.
