Church of Saint Saba

The parish church of Bcharre stands on the main square in the centre of town. It is unremarkable from outside — a solid stone building with a single bell tower — but inside it has a heavy carved iconostasis and a quiet, soot-darkened atmosphere that is worth a few minutes if you are passing.

The square in front of the church, with its cafes and the statue of Khalil Gibran, is essentially the heart of the town. In the evening this is where everyone gathers and where most of the life of Bcharre happens.
