Fishing Harbour

Working fishing port with colourful boats — the most photogenic spot in Sidon

The fishing harbour curves around the foot of the Sea Castle, sheltered by the castle's island on one side and the old town on the other. It is a small, working port — colourful wooden boats lined up bow to stern, fishermen mending nets, the catch laid out on plastic crates for sale in the morning. In late afternoon, when the boats return, there is a brief flurry of activity as buyers haggle for bream, mullet, and the occasional grouper.

A row of simple seafood restaurants and cafes faces the water along the corniche, ideal for an unhurried meal after exploring the old town. The view back across the harbour to the Sea Castle, especially in the golden hour, is the postcard image of Sidon.
