Central Kota Bharu is compact enough to cover on foot. The main markets, museums, and restaurants are all within walking distance of each other. For the beaches and sights outside town, local buses run from the central bus station, though service can be infrequent. Taxis are available but agree on the fare before you get in. Renting a car or motorbike gives you the most freedom for day trips into the Kelantan interior.
