The Museum of Royal Traditions, housed in a handsome 1887 wooden palace near Padang Merdeka. The building itself is the main attraction, with intricately carved wooden panels blanketing the exterior and interior. Inside you will find displays on Kelantanese royal customs, wedding ceremonies, and traditional crafts — the exhibits cover court regalia, royal dress codes, ceremonial objects, and the elaborate rituals surrounding birth, marriage, and death in the Kelantanese nobility.
The palace stands elevated on wooden pillars in the classic Malay style, and the overall effect — particularly in the late afternoon light — is extraordinary. Entry is around RM 2. Allow at least an hour.
