Gaya Street Sunday Market

Every Sunday from around 6am to midday, Gaya Street transforms into the city's best market. Stalls extend for several blocks selling jungle produce, fresh fruit, local snacks, hand-ground coffee, batik fabrics, and an eclectic mix of second-hand goods. This is a genuine weekly event for KK residents, not a tourist production — you will see local families doing their shopping alongside backpackers hunting for breakfast.

Get there early. By 10am the street is packed, and the best produce sells out quickly. The small pastries, sticky rice wrapped in banana leaves, and fresh roasted peanuts are reliable choices. The surrounding coffee shops along Gaya Street open before dawn on Sundays and serve dim sum and kopi until the market winds down.
