Sabah Islamic Civilisation Museum

The Sabah Islamic Civilisation Museum occupies a two-storey building in the southern part of the city centre and documents the history of Islam in Sabah and Borneo more broadly. The collection covers the spread of the faith through trade routes from the Arab world and Indian subcontinent, with manuscripts, calligraphy, textiles, and religious objects drawn from the region's diverse Muslim communities.

The museum is smaller than the Sabah State Museum and often uncrowded, which makes for a more contemplative visit. Entry is free. The building itself, with its arched façade, is attractive. The surrounding Menteri Street area is one of the older surviving parts of the city.
