Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at Sepang is one of Southeast Asia's major hubs and the home base of Malaysia Airlines and AirAsia. It has two terminals — KLIA Main for full-service airlines, KLIA2 for low-cost — connected by a free shuttle. The KLIA Ekspres train links the airport to KL Sentral in 28 minutes (RM 55 one way); the slower KLIA Transit takes 36 minutes with intermediate stops and costs the same. Taxis from a fixed-price coupon counter run around RM 75 to the city centre and take 45-60 minutes.
KL is also a hub for long-distance buses and trains. The intercity bus terminal is Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) south of the centre — well connected by LRT and KTM Komuter — and serves destinations across the peninsula. Trains run from KL Sentral north to Ipoh and Butterworth (for Penang) and south to Johor Bahru and Singapore; the new ETS high-speed service makes Penang in four hours and Ipoh in just over two.
