Damansara Uptown institution famous for nasi lemak with crispy fried chicken and long weekend morning queues

A KL institution for nasi lemak ayam goreng — coconut rice with crispy fried chicken — set in a busy open-air restaurant in the leafy northern suburb of Damansara Uptown. The combination is simple but the execution is famous: fluffy coconut rice, fragrant from pandan leaf, served with anchovies, peanuts, a slice of cucumber, a hard-boiled egg, a dark mound of sweet-spicy sambal, and a piece of fried chicken with a brown, crackling, deeply seasoned crust.

The queue at breakfast and lunch can stretch around the block; come outside peak hours or after 2 pm when the second wave hits. Cash only. About RM 15 for the works. Located 12 km north-west of central KL; take a Grab — the trip is 20-30 minutes off-peak.
