Museum of Khövsgöl Province

Provincial ethnography and natural history museum

The provincial museum, a single-storey building on the central square. Three rooms: a natural-history section with stuffed birds and a Lake Khövsgöl bathymetric model; an ethnography room with Buryat and Darkhad costumes, shaman's drums and the gear of a Tsaatan reindeer herder; and an archaeological room with finds from the Bronze Age deer-stone sites that surround Mörön.

Worth an hour before driving on to the lake — it puts the landscape and the people into context. Modest admission, English labels limited.
