Shishkat is on the Karakoram Highway, about 8 km north of the northern end of Attabad Lake. Shared jeeps and minibuses run regularly between Passu, Gulmit, Shishkat, and Karimabad (Central Hunza). The journey from Karimabad takes 2–3 hours depending on conditions.
There is no public transport timetable to speak of — you wait for a vehicle to fill or hire a private jeep. Private jeeps can be arranged in Karimabad or Gilgit for groups. The road is generally passable to regular cars in summer but can be blocked by rockfalls or washed out in spring. Check conditions locally before setting out.
The nearest large town with proper facilities (banks, medical care, broader transport connections) is Gilgit, about 150 km south.
