The main railway junction of Hyderabad, one of the oldest and most important railway stations in Sindh. Hyderabad Junction lies on the Karachi–Peshawar main line, with additional lines branching to Kotri and toward the interior of Sindh. The station handles significant freight traffic as well as passenger services.
The colonial-era station buildings are substantial and worth a look. The junction is the practical entry point for travellers arriving by train from Karachi (about 2 hours) or heading north toward Sukkur and Lahore. The station area has the usual complement of chai stalls, vendors, and tongas (horse-drawn carriages) that make Pakistani railway junctions a spectacle in themselves.
